Dusty Hannahs reached the 20-point plateau for the eighth time this season, but the Arkansas men’s basketball team fell to No. 23 Kentucky 80-66 on Thursday night in Bud Walton Arena.
Hannahs went 7-for-14 from the field with three rebounds, while Anthlon Bell had 16 points and Moses Kingsley added 13 points. Kingsley had six rebounds and Jabril Durham recorded five assists, as each led the team in the respective category for the 17th time this season.
Early in the contest with the Razorbacks needing a spark, Kingsley provided one with some flare. The junior forward took a one-handed stab at a Hannahs rebound and threw it down to put the BWA crowd of 18,588 into a frenzy and bring Arkansas to within seven points with 7:23 remaining in the first half.
Even though Hannahs hit a runner as time expired in the first frame, that made the score 36-24 heading into the locker rooms. Two foul shots from Bell coming out for the second half gave the senior guard his first points of the game and cut the Kentucky lead to 10, but that’s the closest the home team would get the rest of the way.
“First of all, I want to congratulate Kentucky. I thought John did a good job of having his team prepared to play, they came out and they really attacked us," head coach Mike Anderson said. "Tyler Ulis did a great job of just taking command out there on the floor.”
