Baker shot a blistering hot 59 percent from the field and went 17 for 33 from three-point range as they pulled away from Evangel in the second half for a 94-73 win Wednesday night in Baldwin City, Kansas.
The Wildcats led 42-33 at halftime and quickly opened up a double-digit lead on their first two possessions of the second half. Baker posted 52 points in the half and went 19 for 30 from the floor after halftime.
"We came out and turned it into a game of 'HORSE' and they made their shots," said Evangel head basketball coach Steve Jenkins. "We didn't do a good enough of a job contesting shots and they played with a lot more urgency than we did."
Richard Chapman had 20 points and went 8 for 10 from the field and 2 for 3 from three-point range. Nick Yocum added 20 points and was Evangel's only other player in double-figures.
Gregg Easter led six Baker players in double-figures with 14 points. Easter hit four three-pointers going 4 for 6 from behind the arc.
Evangel dropped to 6-17 and 5-10 in the Heart of America conference. Baker rose to 11-11 and 7-8 in the league.
The Crusaders are home again on Saturday when they host Benedictine. Tipoff is at 4 p.m. at the Ashcroft Center.
