Hillcrest grad Trey Starks named MIAA Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pittsburg State University senior guard Trey Starks was named the MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week Monday (Feb. 15).



The Springfield, Mo., native set and then equaled his career high in scoring in consecutive games while leading the Gorillas to a pair of wins over teams above them in the MIAA standings.



Starks scored a career-high 28 points on nine of 11 shooting Thursday (Feb. 11) as Pitt State held off Fort Hays State, 101-92. Two days later, Starks matched his new career-high scoring total, scoring 21 of his 28 points in the second half as the Gorillas pulled away to defeat Nebraska-Kearney, 77-61, on Senior Day at John Lance Arena.



For the week, Starks averaged 28.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting .625 from the field (20 of 32) and .538 from 3-point range (7 of 13).
