The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that Cardinals 1B Brandon Moss is scheduled to begin a Rehab Assignment with the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field on Thursday, July 28.

The Cardinals begin a seven-game homestand on Thursday, taking on the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at 7:10pm. Moss, 32, has had a terrific first full season as a Cardinal, hitting .256 with 17 home runs and 40 RBIs through 75 games this year. At the time of his injury, Moss was on pace for a career year in home runs, becoming the first Cardinal this season to hit 17 out of the park. He is still currently tied for the team lead in long-balls with OF Matt Holliday. One of Moss's most memorable homers came on 9/2/15 when he hit the longest home run in Busch Stadium III history by a left-handed batter, belting a 454-foot shot to right field off of RHP Max Scherzer.

A 2014 American League All-Star and three-time American League Player of the Week while with the Oakland Athletics, Moss has compiled a .244 batting average with 127 home runs and 396 RBIs in 845 games through his 10-year Major League career. While with Oakland, he set career highs with 30 home runs and 87 RBIs in 2013, after hitting a career-best .291 in 2012.

The slugger made his big league debut on August 6, 2007 with the Boston Red Sox, and also suited up for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians prior to joining the Cardinals. He was acquired by St. Louis in exchange for LHP Rob Kaminsky on July 30, 2015.
