Parkview High School grad and Missouri State product Spencer Johnson is starting his Minor League career much the way he ended his college career. The 22-year-old outfielder, who was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 16th round in mid-June, has already earned two promotions in as many months.

Johnson, 6'4" 225 lb, was named "Astros Future Player of the Week" Sunday after going 10-for-24 at the plate with two home runs, two doubles, 12 RBI and five runs for the Quad City River Bandits of the High-A Midwest League.
Overall, through 35 games, he's hitting .258 with 9 HRs, 28 RBIs and a .911 OPS.
During his senior season at Missouri State Johnson earned All-MVC honors by leading the nation with 24 home runs to go with a .293 average and 70 RBIs.
The next level is Corpus Christi of the Texas League, so we could be seeing Johnson back at his old stomping grounds of Hammons Field, playing against the Springfield Cardinals next Spring.
