Drury University’s inaugural wrestling season will begin on Sunday, November 6 in the Dan Harris Open at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.
The Panther announced their 2016-17 schedule on Tuesday as the program launches this season.
On Wednesday, Jan. 4, Drury will host a regular season wrestling event for the first time in school history as the Panthers face the University of Central Missouri in a dual at Weiser Gym.
Drury is home again on Saturday, Feb. 4 when Panthers host Truman State and Wisconsin-Parkside in a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference duals.
The GLVC will be in its first year of wrestling competition as well as the league will have seven colleges competing next season. Drury is joined by Bellarmine, Truman State, Maryville, McKendree, Wisconsin-Parkside and Indianapolis in a seven-team conference field.
Drury’s GLVC opener is Saturday, Jan. 21 with duals against Bellarmine and Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri.
Fans will get a preview of the team on Wednesday, Nov. 2 when they hold an intra-squad dual at the O’Reilly Family Event Center.

The Panthers will be led by head coach James Reynolds. The Colorado native was previously a college assistant at Maryville, Nebraska-Omaha and Adams State, his alma mater. He has 31 wrestlers on his roster for the 2016-17 season.
Drury’s program will bring collegiate wrestling back to the area for the first time in 22 years. The last wrestling team to compete at the college level was Missouri State’s program that was discontinued after the 1994 season.
