"He feels he's ready to play," Jack Peavey says of his son. Rafe hopes to get that chance soon.
Bolivar alum Rade Peavey announced he's transferring from Arkansas to Southern Methodist University on twitter Tuesday night. He's entering his sophomore season after redshirting his freshman year.

Rafe committed to Arkansas as a sophomore at Bolivar High School, where he was named COC Small MVP and led the Liberators to an undefeated record. His father coached at Arkansas in the 1990's, but he also coached at SMU.
Just this spring, Peavey told Ozarks Sports Zone, “I’ve been committed here since my sophomore year of high school. I’ve never had any doubt."
But he hasn't seen the field in two seasons at Arkansas, and Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema passed him over for other options during this weekend's scrimmage. Austin Allen won the quarterback competition in the spring, and redshirt freshmen Ty Storey and Ricky Town leapfrogged Peavey on the depth chart.
"We've seen a lot of him and there's been some really really good things, and some things that I wish would've come along a little quicker," Bielema said after the scrimmage. "I love his attitude and his demeanor. Like all quarterbacks, when you're not the guy then you're not where you want to be and you're not going to be happy. He does everything right. He asks all the right questions, he puts in as much work as anybody – if not more. He's playing with an injured back. He's doing all the things we ask him to do, but the bottom line is performance in where we are."
According to some reports, Peavey has already signed with the Mustangs. Because SMU is also FBS, Peavey will have to sit out a year before he can play in a game.
Rafe didn't return a request for comment.
