Despite suffering their first loss of the season on Sunday, the Drury men’s soccer rose three spots in the NCAA-II poll and enter this week ranked 13th nationally. Two weeks ago, the Panthers were ranked 16th and made their first appearance in the poll this season on Sept. 13 debuting at #22.
The Panthers are 7-1 and 5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury’s perfect start to the season was interrupted on Sunday when Quincy scored in overtime to beat the Panthers 4-3. The only time Drury trailed in the loss to the Hawks was on the sudden-death overtime goal. In Drury’s first eight games, they have only been behind for a total of 78 seconds.
Fellow GLVC member, Rockhurst took over the number one ranking in the NCAA-II poll this week. Rockhurst is 7-0-1 and 5-0-1 in the conference and moved from third to first place in the poll.

After four straight road games, the Panthers are home for games Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Both of Drury’s opponents also received points in the top 25 poll this week.
Friday night, the Panthers face Maryville at 7:30 p.m. The Saints are 4-4, 1-4 in the GLVC and received three points in this week’s national poll.
Sunday at 2:30 p.m., Drury takes on a Missouri-St. Louis team that battled top ranked Rockhurst to a 0-0 tie last week. The Tritons are tied for first in the GLVC with a 5-0-1 conference record to go with a 6-1-1 overall mark. They received six points in the national poll.
Both Drury home games this weekend are on campus at the Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
