BATON ROUGE, La. – Mizzou Football fell to 2-3 (0-2 SEC) after LSU earned a 42-7 decision Saturday night (Oct. 1) at Tiger Stadium. LSU pounded out 418 yards on the ground and RB Derrius Guice had 163 of those, including three touchdowns, all in the first half. LSU limited Mizzou's dynamic passing attack to just 188 yards on Saturday night to earn the win. All six of LSU's touchdowns came on the ground. Mizzou's only touchdown of the night was a 21-yard trick play pass from Eric Laurent (Ballwin, Mo.) to QB Drew Lock (Blue Springs, Mo.) with 6:11 remaining.

LSU (3-2, 2-1) struck first on a 42-yard run by Guice as he broke several tackles on his way to the endzone. That capped an 84-yard drive that took nine plays and 5:13 of clock time as LSU opened a 7-0 lead with 6:46 remaining in the first quarter. Mizzou was nearly held without a first down in the first quarter, but a key fourth-down stop on LSU's final drive of the quarter gave Mizzou the ball back as Terry Beckner, Jr. (East St. Louis, Ill.) blew the play up. Mizzou got the ball back with 23 seconds remaining and a pair of Ish Witter (Tampa, Fla.) went for 19 yards as Mizzou began to move the ball before the quarter break.

Right as it looked as if Mizzou was moving the ball, Lock made an ill-advised throw for an interception to give LSU the ball back. LSU then went 89 yards on 13 plays, capped by Guice's second TD from four yards out to take a 14-0 lead. Guice added another TD to give him three in the first half as LSU took a 21-0 lead into the intermission.

LSU made quick work on its first possession of the second half, going 75 yards in eight plays with the drive capped off by a one-yard plunge from Darrell Williams, extending the lead to 28-0. Mizzou's defense did a good job in the third quarter after the score, but Williams added rushing touchdowns with 10:00 and 4:32 left in the game.

Mizzou will be idle next week with its scheduled bye week before traveling to Gainesville, Fla., on Oct. 15. The Tigers' next home game is a Homecoming matchup with Middle Tennessee on Oct. 22.
