Bolivar, Mo. – The Southwest Baptist University women’s basketball team picked up a 79-64 victory over Livin’ The Dream on Tuesday evening in their first exhibition contest of the season.
Southwest Baptist and Livin’ the Dream played a back-and-forth first quarter, as LTD held a 16-11 advantage with 1:59 left in the quarter. The Bearcats used an 8-2 run to close out the quarter with a 19-18 lead. In the second quarter the Bearcats started to slowly increase their lead, and after three pointer from Alex Botkin extended the SBU lead to 33-26, the Bearcats would eventually going into the half with a 39-35 lead.
The Bearcats quickly extended their lead to double-digits in the third quarter off of a Mackenzie Skupa layup (52-42) and would push it to 12 on multiple occasions before taking a 58-49 lead into the final frame. After LTD cut the lead down to five (68-63), SBU ended the game on a 11-1 run to finish off Livin’ the Dream 79-64.
Megan Rosenbohm led the Bearcats with a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Caylee Richardson was also in double figures with 16 points in the victory.
SBU will return to action on Sunday, November 6 when they travel to Division I Nebraska University. Tip is set for 2:00 p.m. from Lincoln, Nebraska.
