Hot shooting leads Drury Women to 2-0 start

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Drury Lady Panthers shot nearly 60 percent from the field in a 94-59 win at Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee.

Drury won both games in the Pops Duncan Classic for the weekend as they start the season with a 2-0 record while the Trojans dropped to 0-2.

The Lady Panthers were 37 of 62 from the floor and led by senior Briana Jones who had a game-high 17 points on 6 for 9 shooting. Four other Drury players were in double-figures as Heather Harman had 15, freshman guard Alyssa Owens added 14, Hailey Diestelkamp had 12 and Hannah Dressler chipped in with 11.

Diestelkamp had a double-double as she also added 11 rebounds. The freshman from Owensville has had double-doubles in her first two collegiate games.

Sarah Raby had 13 points to lead Trevecca Nazarene.

Drury was without guard Alice Heinzler and center Adrienne Horn who missed the game with injuries. 

The Lady Panthers’ first home game will be the Highway 13 Catfight, presented by Bank of Bolivar, as they host Southwest Baptist on Tuesday. Game time is 5:30 p.m. at the O’Reilly Family Event Center.
