Evangel women see early season win streak halted

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Evangel women’s basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end Saturday falling 48-65 at Mount Mercy in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

A cold second quarter from the Crusaders allowed the Mustangs to take a 35-22 halftime lead after being outscored 16-7 in the quarter. Evangel also shot just 26 percent from the field in the first half while Mount Mercy shot 51 percent.

Both Taylor Longley and Madi Johnson finished with nine points to lead Evangel in scoring as no player scored in double figures. Longley also pulled down nine boards in the loss.

Mount Mercy was led by Ashley Dolan who scored a game-high 19 points and seven rebounds.
