Dori Rapinchuk (College of the Ozarks Sports Information) POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. — The Lady Bobcats handed the Southwestern College (Kan.) Lady Builders their third loss of the season on Tuesday evening, as College of the Ozarks picked up an 80-64 victory.
The first quarter found the two teams battling back and forth for the lead on the scoreboard and closing out the first quarter with the Cats on top by a small margin at 25-21. The second quarter, however, laid the foundation for a big C of O win, as the Lady Cats outscored Southwestern 23-6 to take a 48-27 lead into halftime. The remaining two quarters were more evenly matched, as the Lady Builders held an 18-17 scoring edge in the third, while College of the Ozarks took the 4th quarter, 19-15.
Lady Cats’ Lakin Simmerman and Kelsie Cleeton led the charge, both posting double-doubles on the night. Simmerman finished the game with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Cleeton posted 12 points and collected 13 rebounds. Cass Johnson added 13 points, including three treys, and Hannah Wisdom tallied 11 points and 6 assists for the Cats.
Tonight’s win takes the Lady Bobcats to 10-1 on the season. Along with their win, the College of the Ozarks women moved up to #6 today in the NAIA DII Coaches Top 25 Poll.
Both the men’s and women’s team will head to Sioux City, Iowa this weekend to face Morningside College.
