Branson High School volleyball coach Becky Lipasek announced her retirement to her players Friday afternoon.
“I’ve made decisions over the years based on advancing my career,” said Lipasek. “This decision was strictly based on my love for my family and my desire to spend more time with them.”
Lipasek, who was 577-236-44 in her 27-year coaching career, spent the last three years at Branson. Prior to that she led Reeds Spring to a pair of final four appearances, finishing third place both times. She also coached at El Dorado Springs where she won a pair of Class 2 state titles in four final four appearances.
“I have always loved coaching players who aren’t shy when it comes to showing their excitement on the court,” said Lipasek. “The way they pump a fist in the air, jump up and down, the expressions on their faces when they win a big game or make a great play; those are the moments I will remember most.”
“Becky solidified our volleyball program and took us to a new level of competition in the COC,” said David Large, BHS activities director. “Her entire career was spent working with young ladies who wanted to not only play the game, but play the game well. She is leaving the court after a phenomenal 27-year run in high school athletics. We wish her the best on her retirement.”
Lipasek says she will remain involved with volleyball, whether it be club or school teams, but it won’t be in Missouri.
“I will be relocating to be closer to my loved ones. I have a lot of special people in my life that have been behind me throughout my career, and I want to give back to them.”
“Looking back, what matters most is that I can say that I know my mom is looking down on me and that she is proud of me.”
