SPRINGFIELD – The Evangel women’s basketball team was unable to complete a second-half comeback Saturday falling 63-55 to Clarke in conference action.
Evangel trailed 30-19 at halftime and cut the Clarke lead to just two points by the end of the third quarter at 41-39. However, the visitors dominated in the paint and finished with 12 second-chance points to hold on for the win.
Allison Swanson posted her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards. She was joined in double figures by Taylor Longley who added 12 points and four steals in the loss.
Evangel finished with 12 steals, the second-highest mark this season.
Clarke was led by Kelsey Ernst who scored a game-high 14 points. Ernst added eight boards as Clarke out-rebounded Evangel 45-37.
