Phillip Dowden (Evangel Sports Information) OLATHE, Kan. – The Evangel University men’s basketball team fell 82-72 Thursday night at MidAmerica Nazarene in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.
The Crusaders built a 36-28 lead at halftime, but the Pioneers finished 17-of-22 from the field to shoot 77 percent from the field in the second half.
Evangel fell despite forcing 20 MNU turnovers and going 8-of-11 from the free throw line. It was just the second time this season the Crusaders made single-digit free throws after shooting 5-of-7 in a loss at Baker.
Richard Chapman and Josue Levy each scored 18 points to pace Evangel as Levy added four rebounds. The Crusaders were edged in the rebounding battle, 50-32.
The Pioneers were led by Justin Randall who scored a game-high 24 points and 14 rebounds in the win.
