Phillip Dowden (Evangel Sports Information) OLATHE, Kan. – The Evangel University women’s basketball team turned in its biggest win of the season Thursday night with a 61-53 upset of 5th-ranked MidAmerica Nazarene in conference action.
The win is the second in a row for the Crusaders who knocked off the defending national champions on their home floor. The Pioneers shot just 27 percent from the field as Evangel shot 33 percent and out-rebounded MNU, 48-39.
Allison Swanson recorded her third straight double-double with 11 points and 10 boards for Evangel.
Taylor Longley led the Crusaders with 14 points as she was 3-of-5 from behind the three-point line. As a team, Evangel made eight three-pointers.
The Pioneers were led by Tristin Wicks who finished with 16 points and eight boards. Wicks was the only MNU player to score in double figures.
