KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State pulled away from Drury with a 23-5 run midway through the first half on their way to a 93-60 win on Thursday night in Kirksville, Missouri.
The Bulldogs improved to 16-4 and solidified their hold on first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s West Division going to 8-2 in the league. Drury dropped to 13-5 and 6-4.
“Truman State is well coached, tough and an unselfish team,” said Drury head coach Steve Hesser. “We need to regroup and get ready to play in a very tough environment at Quincy on Saturday.”
Truman State led 38-19 at halftime and forced 16 turnovers against the Panthers in the first half. The Bulldogs outscored Drury 55-41 in the second half.
The Bulldogs shot 56 percent for the game hitting 32 of 57 shots and went 17 for 32 from three-point range. The 93 points are the most Drury has allowed this year as well as the 56 percent field goal mark. Drury was held to 39 percent shooting going 21 for 53.
Nathan Messer led Truman State with 23 points. He went 7 for 11 from the three-point arc.
Joshua Palmer had 17 points to lead Drury. The senior went 8 for 13 from the field.
Drury’s road trip continues on Saturday. The Panthers travel to Quincy for a 3 p.m. game against the Hawks.
