KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Drury Lady Panthers put together a late surge to win their tenth straight game with a 64-57 win at Truman State in Kirksville, Missouri on Thursday.
Drury led by as much as 16 in the first half but found themselves trailing by one midway through the fourth quarter. Trailing 52-51 with 4:57 remaining, the Lady Panthers finished the game outscoring the Bulldogs 13-5 to win by seven.
Drury, ranked 12th in NCAA-II, improved to 18-2 and 10-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Truman State dropped to 9-10 and 4-6 in the league.
“This was a quality test for us,” said Drury head coach Molly Miller. “Truman State is tough and they challenged us as they battled back. Our defense got what we needed in forcing some turnovers but, what’s uncharacteristic for us, we turned the ball over 21 times. I was pleased with how we were composed down the stretch. Paige Wilson hit some free throws and Heather Harman made some plays for us late.”
Harman led the Lady Panthers with 20 points. Wilson scored all of her 19 points in the second half with 11 of them coming in the fourth quarter. She went 10 for 10 from the free throw line and Drury went 19 for 21 from the line in the game.
Cassidy Clark led Truman State with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bulldogs committed 27 turnovers while the Lady Panthers had 21.
Drury stays on the road to play Quincy University on Saturday. Tipoff is at 1 p.m. in Quincy, Illinois.
