Lady Crusaders can’t keep up with nationally-ranked Central Methodist

FAYETTE, Mo. – The Evangel University women’s basketball team fell in the regular season finale, 93-58, at 24-ranked Central Methodist Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders, who had already locked up the No. 7 seed in next week’s Heart Postseason Tournament, fell behind early as the Eagles jumped out to a 20-9 first quarter lead and never looked back. Evangel will host Missouri Valley Monday night in the first round of the Heart Tournament at 7 p.m. inside the Ashcroft Center.

Evangel shot just 25 percent from the field in the first half as the Eagles shot over 70 percent to build a 49-26 halftime lead. Despite both teams turning over the ball 19 times, Evangel was never able to climb back into the game.

Reggine Brown scored a team-high 15 points and pulled down three rebounds. Allison Swanson also finished in double figures with 10 points but was held to just one rebound.

Central Methodist was led by Lexi Moe who finished with 22 points in the win. Teammate DaJonee Hale added 20 for the Eagles.
