Saturday State Basketball Updates

There are five teams playing for state championships in Columbia while four Class 4 & 5 teams are trying to qualify for the Final Four in SBU. Follow along with all of the scores below. For more complete updates, follow us on twitter @ozarksozone or by scrolling to the bottom of this article.

CLASS 1-3 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

CLASS 1 BOYS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Advance 65, Walnut Grove 62 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
The Walnut Grove boys won the school’s first boys basketball championship. Logan Thomazin led the way with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Gilkey was a monster in the game with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals and 7 assists.

CLASS 1 GIRLS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Mercer 43, Walnut Grove 34 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
Bayley Harman led Walnut Grove with 23 points and 11 rebounds, but the Lady Tigers would come up short in their bid for a state title.

CLASS 3 GIRLS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Strafford 83, Whitfield 37 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
Abby Oliver scored 22 points and knocked down six 3-pointers to set the Missouri single season record for made 3-pointers in a season. Hayley Frank was a star again with 24 points and 14 rebounds.

CLASS 2 BOYS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Oran 70, Crane 63 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
Dalton Hayes scored 23 points to lead Crane in his final game, but the Pirates could not overcome a mostly cold night from beyond the arc where they finished 6-for-20.

CLASS 2 GIRLS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Skyline 69, Adrian 42 – FINAL – CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS – CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
McKinsey Mountain went 10-for-13 from the field to lead Skyline with 20 points in her final game for the Lady Tigers. Skyline had 10 different players score in the win.

CLASS 4-5 QUARTERFINALS

Kickapoo 71, Rock Bridge 65 – FNAL   CLICK HERE FOR GAME PHOTOS      CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
The Chiefs are headed to Columbia for the second straight season. Kickapoo trailed 21-9 after the first quarter and by five at halftime, before taking control in the second half. Kickapoo scoring: Cam Davis 28, Jared Ridder 21, Travis Vokolek 10 (all in second half), Isaac Blakeslee 8, Donyae McCaskill 4. RB scoring: Isaiah Mosley 28, Dajuan Harris 15, Eysan Wiley 14

Rock Bridge 42, Branson 27 – FINAL   CLICK HERE FOR GAME PHOTOS   CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
Branson sees ends in the Class 5 quarterfinals. The Pirates scored no points and trailed 24-6 at halftime, but battled back in the second half and got as close as 10 points in the fourth quarter. Branson finishes 25-5 overall. The Pirates were in the state quarterfinal round for the first time since 2004. Tori O’Dell, Amanda Kearney and Lauren Garrison scored six apiece to lead Branson. Katey Klucking scored 18 to lead Rock Bridge.

Bolivar 59, Grandview 52 – FINAL/OT  CLICK HERE FOR GAME PHOTOS     CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
Bolivar blew a 17-point halftime lead, but Conley Garrison hit a game-tying 3 with seconds left in regulation to force overtime. He scored a game-high 31 and had all 16 of Bolivar’s combined points in the third and fourth quarters. Brandon Emmert had 21 points. Emmert and Garrison combined for 27 of Bolivar’s 28 points after halftime. Jordan Lathon scored 18 for Grandview, all in the second half. Deandre Sorrells added 17 points.  Bolivar (26-4) plays Parkway Central (23-8) in the Class 4 semifinals on Thursday, March 16 at 5:10 p.m. at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Carl Junction 36, Osage 26 – FINAL   CLICK HERE FOR GAME PHOTOS   CLICK HERE FOR A RECAP
Carl Junction advances to the state final four for the first time in program history. Osage was within 29-24 early in the fourth quarter after a Kerrigan Gamm three-point play, but the Indians committed turnovers on their next three possessions. Megan Scott’s three-point play with  3:35 remaining gave Carl Junction a 32-24 lead. Scott scored 18 to lead Carl Junction. Gamm had 11 points for Osage. CJ (27-2 overall) plays Incarnate Word Academy (26-4) at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia in the Class 4 semifinals.
