The Drury women’s golf team won the DU Panthers Spring Invitational on Monday at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar. The Panthers shot a two round total of 658 to defeat second place William Jewell by six shots in the four-team field.
Drury’s Katelyn McMahon won the individual championship. The sophomore from Brampton, Ontario shot 78 on Sunday and Monday for a two-day total of 156. McMahon won by three shots over second place finisher, Payton Meeks from William Jewell.
Lyndsey Standage, a freshman from Rogersville, tied for fourth in the tournament shooting a 21-over-par 165 while Lauren Plunkett finished sixth.
The Panthers return to action in the Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational on April 9-10.
Cox highlights strong showing for SBU
The Southwest Baptist University women’s golf team took down five school records in a strong showing at the Lady Panther Spring Invite on Sunday and Monday at the Silo Ridge Country Club. The Bearcats finished a program-high 3rd overall, while Courtney Cox finished an individual program high 4th.
Cox, a 2013 West Plains High School graduate, shot 165 after shooting an 81 on the second day of play, finishing in a tie for 4th, while Phoebe Finley moved up to 7th overall after shooting a tournament best 77 on Monday to finish with a combined 170. Jacey Collins finished in 14th place after shooting a second round 91, and a combined 186, followed closely by Ashley Kelley who finished 16th with a combined 188. Mary Catherine Harris finished 18th (196), while Mirannda Pollard finished 19th (202) and Addie Stewart 20th (207).
SBU set program records for lowest round (338), lowest tournament score (709), lowest individual round (77 – Phoebe Finley), lowest two day total (165 – Courtney Cox), and highest individual finish (4th – Courtney Cox).
The Bearcats will return to action on Monday, April 3 when they travel to Mountain Home, Arkansas for the Southern Bancorp Invitational.
