Former Ozark Volleyball coach Becky Justis returning to coaching at Galena

RELEASE: Galena High School is proud to announce that it has hired Becky Justis as their new Head Volleyball Coach. Coach Justis will also be assuming duties as the elementary physical education teacher for the district. Justis will be replacing Hannah Fondreist who has left coaching to pursue a career in the dental field.

“We are very excited about the vision for our volleyball program presented by Coach Justis as well as her leadership style and character,” said Galena High School principal Dr. Bob Baker. “Not only has Coach Justis proven herself as an outstanding volleyball coach, she has also excelled as a classroom teacher and, most importantly, is an outstanding individual.”

Justis brings with her 16 years of experience as a head volleyball coach with her last coaching job being at Ozark High School from 2001-2013. While at Ozark, Justis compiled an overall record of 348-110-23 along with a 2009 MSHSAA State Championship, seven COC Championships, six district championships, and has taken five teams to the Final Four. In addition, she is proud of the multiple All-State athletes she has coached along with six All-American players, two Gatorade Missouri Players of the Year and one Prep Volleyball National Player of the Year. She was named the Class 4 Coach of the Year following the 2009 season.

Coach Justis stated that shie is “excited for the opportunity to once again become a head volleyball coach now that my twins are done playing in college. I look forward to becoming a Galena Bear and working with a great administration, staff, students, parents, and community. When you make a change after 16 years you want it to be for the right reasons. The whole process could not have been more perfect and more meant to be.”
