The Drury men’s golf team fired a round of 298 and have a three round total of 887, good for third place at the 39th Annual Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, Monday at Rivercut Golf Course.
Leading the field is UMSL (871), with a seven stroke edge over second place Indianapolis (878). Drury is in third nine strokes back (887), two strokes back is Bellarmine (889) in fourth. All four teams will come back tomorrow to determine the GLVC Champion, with UMSL and Bellarmine playing on hole 1, and Drury and UINDY playing on hole 10, starting at 8 a.m. Semifinal winners will play at hole one for the 2017 GLVC title starting at 1 p.m.
James Inman of Bellarmine leads the field with a three round 213, one stroke ahead of second place Talon Supak of Illinois-Springfield (214).
Drury’s Craig Stefureak and Josh Fronabarger are tied for ninth (220) in individual scoring for the Panthers. Two strokes back and tied for 14th is Cameron Bourque (222). Mitchell Kiser is tied for 25th (227) and Nick Walz is tied for 43rd (234).
“I am very happy with what to have accomplished the first of our two goals this week, which was to make it to match play,” said Drury head coach Kellen Mast. “Tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun, we just have to not get ahead of ourselves and take it one hole at a time.”
