An MRI Wednesday afternoon confirmed a rupture of Meyer’s right patellar tendon, and the senior is expected to face a six-to-eight month recovery period after undergoing surgery Thursday.

A four-year regular for the Bears, Meyer started each of the first 41 games at second base for Missouri State this spring, hitting .292 with four home runs and 30 runs batted-in. The Millstadt, Ill., product earned MSU’s Danny Cook Rookie of the Year honor in 2014 and hit a combined .304 over his final three seasons in the Maroon and White.

Overall, Meyer saw action in 187 games during his MSU career, helping the Bears to 141 overall victories, including a school-record 49-win campaign in 2015 that included MVC regular-season and tournament titles, as well as an NCAA Regional crown and a final ranking of No. 12 in the national polls.
