Cardinals’ Piscotty to rehab in Springfield

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty is scheduled to begin a Rehab Assignment with the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field on Tuesday, May 16.

The Cardinals continue an eight-game homestand at Hammons Field on Tuesday, May 16 with a 6:30pm First Pitch. Tuesday is a Great Southern Bank $1 Dog Day, featuring delicious hot dogs for just a buck with gates opening at 5:30pm. The eight-game homestand begins tonight with a 6:30pm First Pitch against the Tulsa Drillers.

Piscotty, 26, has been an instrumental piece of the Cardinals lineup since debuting on July 21, 2015. Through 241 career games in the big leagues, he has compiled a .279 average with 31 home runs, 55 doubles and 135 RBIs. In his first full Major League season last year, Piscotty hit .273 with 22 home runs, 35 doubles and 85 RBIs in a team-high 153 games, earning him the Cardinals nomination for the 2016 Hank Aaron Award and 2016 MLBPAA “Heart and Hustle” Award.

A native of Pleasanton, California, Piscotty was selected by St. Louis in the 1st round of the 2012 June Draft out of Stanford University. On his quick ascension to the Major Leagues, Piscotty hit .299 with six home runs and 24 RBIs through 49 games with Springfield during the 2014 season.
