Anthony Tolliver signs with Detroit Pistons

Former Kickapoo state champ Anthony Tolliver signed a one year contract with the Detroit Pistons reportedly worth $3.3 million Tuesday.

Tolliver played for the Pistons from 2014-16 and averaged 6.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game after the Phoenix Suns traded him there. On this week’s O-Zone Radio Show, Tolliver said that Detroit grew on him.

“When [my family and I] were traded to Detroit I was not happy about living in Detroit, but once we got there and we were in the environment we absolutely loved it.”

He wasn’t expecting to become a free agent this summer, as he was in the second year of a two-year $16 million deal he signed with the Kings last summer. However, Sacramento opted to cut him in order to save some money against the salary cap as they rebuild their roster.

Tolliver’s career has endured nearly a decade without much geographic stability. Since going undrafted in 2007 out of Creighton, Tolliver has played for the Spurs, Trail Blazers, Warriors, Timberwolves, Hawks, Hornets, Suns, Pistons, and Kings.

Tolliver has made a nine-year career out of being a so-called stretch-four, and his 36.2% career shooting from three has made him a valuable piece of NBA rosters. You can see his career stats below, courtesy of Basketball Reference.
