Pleasant Hope went 1-9 in 2016 with the lone winning coming against Osceola in Week 9 by a score of 20-18.

Scott Wolf returns for his third season as head coach of the Pirates. He is switching up Pleasant Hope’s offensive and defensive schemes in hopes of adding more wins.

“We’re kind of changing things on offense and defense from what we’ve done in the past,” Pleasant Hope head coach Scott Wolf said. “We’re going to spread it around a little bit more on offense, and on defense we’re just trying to get a little more speed out on the field by moving things around a little bit and showing some different fronts. That’s the key of the game. Speed on the field.”

So far, so good for his team with the schematic transitions.

“The kids are picking up on it fairly quickly. We’ve started to see some success at camp. It’s one of those things where we need a lot more reps and more practice, but I like where we’re headed right now,” Wolf said.

Junior Jeremy Rotramel will be heavily involved in the offense in some capacity whether it is at quarterback, running back or wide receiver. He will also be the top cornerback for the Pirates on defense.

Damon Miles will join Rotramel in the secondary at free safety along with seeing time at running back and wide receiver. Miles brings good hands and a lot of speed to the field.

Dalton Presley will step back from the offensive line to provide a physical option in the backfield at running back.

Teagen Keck, Austin Stidham, Dalton Taylor, Wyatt Chapman, Ben Wells, Jake Skidmore, Matt McNight and Jacob Coffey are all other players that will see significant roles for Pleasant Hope in 2016.

Pleasant Hope opens its season on Aug. 18 at home against Hollister.
