Reeds Spring marched to an 18-10 season last year to post the program’s first back-to-back winning season since 2008-09 and 2009-10. Four starters and two addition lettermen return from last season’s team that fell to eventual Class 4 runner-up Bolivar in the district semifinals.

“From the start of the season to the end last year, I thought we got better defensively and ran more consistent offensive,” Reeds Spring head coach Barry Yocom said. “In order to build upon that this year we must continue to buy in and stay hungry.”

Lane Carroll and Logen Plumb return for their senior seasons after finishing 1-2 in scoring for the Wolves last season.

Carroll averaged 14.2 points per game to go with four rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He was also the Wolves’ top outside threat after knocking down a team-high 46 3-pointers.

“We expect Lane to be one of our leaders along with the rest of our seniors,” Yocom said. “I expect him to lead by example and be a consistent two-way player for us.”

Plumb was just behind Carroll with 13.5 points per game. The senior led the Wolves in rebounding at 9.4 boards per contest. He, along with fellow senior Austin Bradfield, will be counted on heavily in the rebounding game once again. Bradfield was second on the team at 5.9 rebounds per game last year.

Reeds Spring has five total seniors that saw significant minutes last year with the three mentioned above along with Cole Crutcher and Cole Nordin to lean on this season.

“This year’s senior class has meant a great deal to our program. They have truly ‘bought in’ in every sense of the word and laid a solid foundation,” Yocum said. “In order to build upon previous years they must continue to do this and be a great example for each other and our other players.”

Juniors Troy Froeschle and Robbie Huseman also return to provide more depth for the Wolves.

Seniors Nate Crosson and John Zachary along with junior Josh DeJarnette and sophomores Nate Cerny, JT Bayliff and Al Chavez are some new faces that will see varsity time.

Reeds Spring has not made a district title game appearance since 2010, but this year’s version of the Wolves has the experience to break that drought.

“Overall we are excited for this upcoming season because we have a bunch of guys who do things the right way,” Yocum said. “This team has potential. In order to reach that potential we have to continue to buy in and attack each day with a chip on our shoulder.”

Reeds Spring opens the season at the Forsyth Invitational Nov. 27 through Dec. 2.
