The Liberal girls finished 14-12 last year and appear poised for another strong season after losing just one player to graduation.
That player was a good one though in first-team all-conference selection McKayla Fry.
The other four starters return led by senior Carly Spencer. Spencer, who was a second-team all-conference selection, averaged 13.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game last year. Both marks led the team. The 5-foot-10 post is a key anchor in the paint for the Lady Bulldogs.
Fellow seniors Kaylee Daniels and Callie Cornell also return to the starting lineup. Daniels is the point guard and returns after averaging 7.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last season. Cornell is the team’s top defender and returns after averaging 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Junior Mallory Gazaway is the final returning starter coming off a season where she averaged 4.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Senior Sydnee Hood, junior Jessica Roby and sophomore Taylor Ray also return and will see expanded roles this year. Jaci Coleman also returns for her senior season after missing last year due to injury.
All of this returning experience has coach BJ Goodell hoping for big things from his team.
“We have a lot of experience returning and everyone knows the system well,” Goodell said. “We should have a good season. We hope to win 17 or more games, and finish in the top of the conference.”
The Liberal girls open the season on Nov. 21 at home against McAuley Catholic.
