Blake Short enters season five as the head coach of the McDonald County girls having to replace three graduated players from last year’s team that finished 7-19.
Those graduated seniors were: Tricia Wattman, Caitlynn Sedillos and Madison Mitchell. Wattman was second-team all-conference and all-district.
Senior Meagan Mills, junior Sam Frazier and sophomore Ragan Wilson will be the Mustangs’ main returning players this year.
That group will be looked to for leadership and to key a defensive-minded attack.
“Defense is always something we strive to be great at, and we will be very quick and feisty this year so that will be something we look to take advantage of,” Short said.

Senior Aspen Bowman along with the sophomore trio of Rita Santillan, Jaylie Sanny and Addy Mick will step up to varsity this year.
“The expectation is to never settle and to push ourselves to be the best we can in every facet of the game,” Short said.
McDonald County opens the season Nov. 27 through Dec. 2 at the Carl Junction Tournament.
