QUINCY, Ill. – The seventh-ranked Drury Lady Panthers scored a season-high 90 points in a 90-67 win at Quincy on Thursday night at Pepsi Arena.
Drury improved to 9-1 and 3-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference while winning their seventh straight game. Quincy dropped to 1-6 and 0-3 in the league.
The Lady Panthers went 36 for 62 from the floor to shoot a season-high 58 percent from the field. Drury was also 8 for 19 from three-point range.
The Lady Panthers built a 22-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and, after the Hawks cut the Drury lead to six midway through the second period, the Lady Panthers closed out the first half on a 13-3 run to take a 44-28 advantage at halftime.
Drury then started the second half on an 8-2 run to put the game out of reach.
Six Lady Panthers scored in double-figures led by Azia Lynch who came off of the bench to score 14 points. Alice Heinzler and Heather Harman both had 13, Lucia Fernandez and Hailey Diestelkamp each had 12 while Emily Parker added 11 points.
“Quincy hit some shots and that kept them in it,” said Drury head coach Molly Miller. “We’ve got to do a better job in holding teams to a lower field goal percentage but we had a really good team effort today. We had 18 assists as a team and we had a lot of people contribute.”
The Hawks shot 48 percent in the game hitting 26 of their 54 attempts. Quincy was led by Anika Webster who scored a game-high 15 points.
The Lady Panthers will be idle until Dec. 16 when they play in the Oahu Christmas Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. Drury will face Montana State-Billings on Dec. 16 and Notre Dame (Ohio) on Dec. 17 in the event hosted by Hawaii Pacific.
