Rogersville football coach Doug Smith to retire

Logan-Rogersville Head Football Coach Doug Smith has announced his retirement from the gridiron. After 32 years, 11 of which were spent at Logan-Rogersville, he said this felt like the right time to retire from coaching, and that he believes a change in leadership will be a positive thing for the team. He will continue to serve as a teacher in the district. During his tenure as Head Football Coach at Logan-Rogersville, Coach Smith led the Wildcats to quarterfinal appearances in 2008, 2009, and 2010, a Class 3 state championship in 2011, and an overall record of 74-51.

Before coming to Logan-Rogersville, Smith spent ten and a half years coaching and teaching at Missouri Western State University. Prior to that he spent time in Perryville, Savannah, Festus and several years in Arkansas and Kansas.

Coach Smith wishes to thank the Logan-Rogersville administration, parents, students, and community for the support he has received over his 11 years in the program. The district thanks him for his dedication to his players and students, and for the tremendous impact he has had on Logan-Rogersville Football.
