You’ll hear him called a number of things.
Miciah says, ‘Micha, Ma-chee-uh, Ma-CHI-uh’
Anthony Stanford says, ‘Freak. Physical specimen.’
Miciah says, ‘Everything but Miciah it seems like.’
His name is Miciah Rocha.
Coach says, ‘He makes us go. He is our motor overall.’
And he’s an unstoppable force on the Forsyth basketball team.
Anthony says, ‘You don’t guard him. You just try to slow him down.’
Coach says, ‘He brings the ball up the floor for us and distributes it. He’s our leading assist giver, he’s our leading scorer averaging almost 23 a game.’
It’s no secret that he can score. In fact, you’ll often see opposing teams playing their defense around Rocha’s game.
Coach, ‘There’s not a game that he’s not face-guarded or double-teamed. At least at some point, if not through out the whole game.’
Rocha, ‘It’s actually a confidence booster. When I’m open I feel like they’re going to regret it. Usually I feel like I’m the man on the court when they tell me that.’
Just when other teams think they’ve figured him out –
Anthony Stanford says, ‘It’s hard to tell in a game which hand is his dominate hand. They’ll scream, he’s right-handed, make him go left.’
– They haven’t.
Anthony Stanford says, ‘I don’t know if you know Miciah, he’s left-handed, so he takes that as a compliment, because he works on his right hand non-stop.’
They say he’s right handed, make him go left. You’re left handed.
Miciah says, ‘Yeah, all the time. It’s kind of funny.’
And Miciah has some big goals for the rest of the season.
Miciah says, ‘Get to State. I want to get All-State individually; that’s my goal.’
Congratulations to Miciah Rocha for being this week’s Arby’s high school Athlete of the Week.
