Dora and Eminence take the court out in Cabool. Despite the Red Wings 11-point lead at half time. Dora stayed with it, and freshman Mason Luna was a big part of that, finishing with 31 points, 23 in the 2nd half.
It got down to the wire. But Eminence kept their heads on and got the win 71-66. A big part of that was due to this week’s Athlete of the Week, Trent McBride. The 6-foot-6 junior finished this game with 24 points, and 17 rebounds. McBride suffered an injury last season, but has come back this year stronger than ever.
Trent says, ‘When I got injured I got to respect the game of basketball more. I was just taking everything for granted, but when I got hurt I learned that every moment is precious. So I went into the off season, and I guess you could say I was a little on the heavy side, so I changed my diet, and I think it helped my game a little bit.’
Pete says, ‘He does so much for us as far as his rebounding, so even if he’s not scoring, he’s controlling the glass for us. Other teams are having to give up not only one helper, but a couple, so it opens up our other guys, and he’s a good passer, so he makes other players better around him.’
Trent says, ‘People look at me and think, he might not be able to shoot outside shots, so when people give me space, I just like to knock it down, and it kind of extends my game a little bit.’
