The Drury University cheer squad finished in second place among Division-2 programs and fourth overall at the University World Cup Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida this weekend.

The Panthers finished second in the Division-2 Small Squad Co-Ed Division on Saturday. Drury finished ahead of Mississippi Gulf Coast (6th place), San Francisco State (5th place) Saint Edwards (Tex.) (4th place), and Kutztown (3rd place). Wilmington University finished first in the division.

Drury advanced to the Premier Small Squad Co-Ed event on Sunday and finished fourth. It was the highest placement by a non-NCAA Division I team. The Panthers finished ahead of fifth-place Syracuse while Arkansas State was third, Bowling Green was second, and Hofstra won the championship.

This year’s finish by Drury was the sixth time in the last seven years that the Panthers cheer squad has finished in the top five at the national competition.
