The Drury baseball team is picked to finish in second place in the West Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the GLVC preseason coaches’ poll.
Quincy, winners of last year’s GLVC tournament and the NCAA-II Midwest Regional, is picked to win the division. The Panthers were picked second and picked up one first-place vote while Missouri S&T was selected to finish third.
Southern Indiana was picked to win the East Division.
Drury will enter the season ranked 39th in the nation by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and returns 11 lettermen from last year’s team that won the division with a 19-9 conference record to go with a 37-20 mark overall. The Panthers advanced to the GLVC tournament championship game and the NCAA-II Midwest Regional where they went 1-2.
Head coach Scott Nasby will enter his sixth year leading the program, and he has taken the team to four NCAA-II tournament appearances in five years and has captured the GLVC championship twice.
The Panthers open the 2018 season on Feb. 17 at Florida Tech. Drury’s first home game of the year is March 2 when they host Winona State at U.S. Baseball Park in Ozark.
