Clever senior Caleb Peck thought his high school basketball career was done when he tore his ACL in the Bluejays Homecoming game against Spokane last week.
Tuesday night, on Senior Night, Peck got one more shot and he took advantage of the rare opportunity.
Wearing a full knee brace on his right leg, Peck entered the game with less than 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter of a blowout win against Sparta.
He camped out in the near corner. Fellow senior Devan Hampton found Peck. Balancing on his left leg only, Peck fired away and hit nothing but net as the crowd erupted. Peck pounded his chest just a few feet from his team’s bench.
Next time down the floor Peck took a second shot, but this one fell short, hitting off the front iron.
Peck checked out after that, embracing his coaches and teammates. He finished with three points in the box score and a moment he’ll never forget.
