On Tuesday, April 17, the Mount Vernon School Board approved hiring Grant Berendt to serve as Head Girls Basketball Coach for the Lady Mountaineers beginning in the 2018-19 school year.
Mr. Berendt has been the Head Coach of the Neosho Lady Wildcats the past four seasons compiling a 61-42 record. Prior to Neosho, Mr. Berendt served four years as an Assistant Coach in the Jefferson City Helias Lady Crusader Basketball program and five years as an Assistant in the Jefferson City Lady Jays Basketball Program.
Mr. Berendt will be teaching At-Risk students at MVHS and succeeds Dusty Killingsworth who resigned from coaching after five seasons as Head Coach.
