SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State University’s annual auction benefiting athletics will unveil a fresh look, new title and a themed celebration of the 1999 Bears basketball team when the event launches on Friday, August 3.
The business-casual fundraiser at Hammons Student Center, rebranded as the “Sneaker Soiree,” encourages fans to wear sneakers and enjoy a fun, fan-friendly night of activities, auctions and prizes. Doors open at 5 p.m. and commences with hundreds of silent auctions items up for bid.
The live auction, featuring auctioneer Donnie Stumpff, begins at 7:30 p.m. Items in the live auction include travel packages, furniture, unique MSU Athletics experiences and more.
The 2018 Sneaker Soiree will also kick off the 20th anniversary of Missouri State’s 1999 NCAA Tournament team, coached by Steve Alford, that reached the Sweet 16. Alford and players from the 1999 team will be in attendance to meet with fans and celebrate the unforgettable moment in Bears’ history.
The auction serves as the primary fundraiser for Missouri State University’s intercollegiate athletic programs. This year’s proceeds will benefit the various sports teams at MSU and serves as a social event to kick off the upcoming 2018-19 athletic year. Several hundred Bears’ fans are expected to attend the event and its wide variety of activities throughout the evening.
Individual tickets are just $35, if ordered before July 20, and include all-you-can-eat food and complimentary beverages. Sponsored tables for 10 are $1,000, while reserved tables for eight are just $550.
