There are a lot of ways to describe the playing style of Laquey’s Brandon MacDonald. He’s fast, he’s explosive, but to put it simply —
“He’s very good,” said Laquey head coach Tyler Sevon. “He’s the best player I’ve coached since I’ve been here, he’s phenomenal.”
“I’ve just always had a passion for the game. I’ve always loved playing it since I was a little kid,” said MacDonald.
As a little kid, he grew up in the peak of greatness for one of the best soccer players to play the game.
“Ronaldo has always been my idol in my life, so I’ve always wanted to be like him. Obviously I’m nothing like him but I try to be,” said MacDonald.
Wearing number seven makes him a little like Cristiano Ronaldo, but the biggest similarity between them is they both score a lot of goals.
“He’s very dynamic on the ball. He can score a bunch of different ways,” said Sevon.
This season Brandon has a chance to etch his name in the record books, closing in on the top 5 goals scored in a season in the state.
“I think about my brother that lives in California and play for him, because he wants me to play. I think about him every time I score. I tell myself that I need another one so he’s impressed,” MacDonald said.
Brandon’s brother is currently serving in the Navy, and joining the military is something Brandon has considered too.
“The military is an option, but if I think I can make it to the MLS, or make it somewhere that plays pro I’ll do that before the military, that’s my goal,” MacDonald said.
