HARRISON, ARK. — The ESPN Radio affiliate in Harrison does a radio show before their Friday night football games.

They built a nice set and run an hour long show right outside the stadium.

It isn’t ESPN’s College Gameday with Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit… but it is Goblin Gameday and certainly adds to the tailgating experience before Harrison’s home games.

“The hospital is actually a corporate sponsor of the stadium. So we wanted to do something that was a little bit different.” said Kim Rosson, the executive director of the North Arkansas Medical Foundation.

“She said let’s do something to kind of get the crowd hyped up before the game, so we decided well let’s just do a gameday show. Like on ESPN television but on the radio.” said Jamie Holt, one of the radio show’s hosts.

It started three years ago, but didn’t start like the production it is now…

“We first started with a table and we thought that was fun and we were out front in front of the stadium and then we decided we wanted to up it a little bit.” said Rosson.

“We were having lunch one day and we just kind of drew this out on a napkin and I said here Kim this would be great and she took it to her guys at the hospital and they built it. And I couldn’t believe it the first time I saw it, I thought, wow that is cool.” said Holt.

“It started to feel more and more like the gameday show after we added the table.” said Jon Burnside, one of the radio show’s hosts.

The show airs on 104.3 FM a few hours before the Goblin’s home games.

“We have lots of different visitors like local celebrities of sorts.” said Burnside.

Even local news reporters….

“I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I get here and it’s like ESPN College Gameday. I was looking for the mascot head in the middle.” said Braden Berg, Ozone reporter, while on the radio show.

“You will see some stuff at like the Razorback game, we have pregame shows and stuff like that, but not a set like this. They don’t even have it for that.” said Holt.

“And we didn’t think it was going to take off but it has, and it just gets bigger and we add to it every year.” said Rosson.

“We were just some guys wanting to have a fun time and be on the radio, and it has turned into so much bigger than that.” said Burnside.

They hope to go on the road with the gameday show during the Goblin’s playoff run.
