SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The first NCAA-II regional rankings have been released, and the Drury Lady Panthers are sitting at number one in the Midwest Region. Drury is 24-0, 14-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and is also ranked number one in the WBCA/NCAA-II coaches’ poll.
Lewis (21-2) ranks second in the region, while Grand Valley State (21-2) is third and Ashland (23-2) is fourth. Two other GLVC teams are in the top 10 with Truman State (19-5) sixth and Southern Indiana (15-7) seventh.
The rankings determine the NCAA-II tournament field with eight teams from each of the eight regions advancing to the national championship tournament and the top-ranked team in each region has the opportunity to host their respective regional tournament. The rankings will be updated each week through the season with the final ranking announced on Sunday, March 10th.
The Lady Panthers return to action on Thursday when they travel to the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a 5:30 p.m. game.
