COLUMBUS, Ohio— Drury Lady Panthers Hailey Diestelkamp and Daejah Bernard were named NCAA-II All-Americans by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The WBCA announced the honors at the NCAA-II Elite Eight banquet on Monday night in Columbus, Ohio.
Hailey Diestelkamp was named a First Team All-American by the WBCA. Diestelkamp led the 34-0, and number one ranked Lady Panthers in scoring and rebounding averaging 21 points to go with 8.9 boards per game. The junior from Owensville, Missouri is among the nation’s leaders in steals averaging 3.4 per game and shoots .521 from the field.
During the postseason, Diestelkamp was also named the Most Valuable Player in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament, and the MVP of the NCAA-II Midwest Regional tournament. She was also selected as a First Team All-GLVC performer at the end of the regular season.
Daejah Bernard was an honorable mention All-American selection by the WBCA. Earlier this year, Bernard was named the GLVC’s Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season and was named a First Team all-conference selection. Bernard has helped lead a Drury defense that leads the nation forcing 31.1 turnovers per game and is allowing only 55.6 points per game. The junior from St. Joseph leads all of Division II and the GLVC in steals with 125 and her 6.3 assists per game is the best mark in the conference and ranks among the top 10 in the nation.
