Summit Prep’s Maggie Moore and Rogersville’s Cabrini Johnson were the local stars at the Class 1 state swim meet in St. Peter’s with each brining home gold medals.
Moore won two titles in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. She won the 50 free in a time of 23.57 while her time of 55.74 in the 100 backstroke got her a second gold medal.

Johnson saved her best for her final high school race by setting a new class record of 1:03.23 in the 100-yard breaststroke. It was her fourth all-state finish of the meet. She also finished all-state in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:14.51.

Her other two all-state finishes came from the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays. Both relays finished seventh overall and were comprised of Johnson, Maddie Atwood, Elise Evans and Emily Floyd.
Atwood matched Johnson’s medal haul with four all-state finishes of her own. In addition to the relays, Atwood took fourth in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.
Rogersville was the area’s top finisher in the team standings taking seventh with 112 points. Summit Prep was the next highest finisher for the area in 13th.
Parkview’s Audrey Duchscherer and Summit Prep’s Faith Guyer brought home two all-state finishes. Duchscherer finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle and eighth in the 200-yard freestyle. Guyer was seventh in the 100-yard freestyle and eighth in the 200-yard individual medley.
Olivia Fiorino made history for West Plains, as she became the first Lady Zizzer to earn a state medal. She finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle.
Lamar’s Meghan Watson (fifth in the 100-yard butterfly) and Thomas Jefferson’s Caroline Martucci (fifth in the 100-yard backstroke) rounded out the area’s all-state finishes in swimming events.
Glendale’s Madline Smith was the area’s top diver taking fifth place with a score of 392.45.
