When it comes to Dora basketball, there’s no shortage of community support.

“I was pretty invested anyway, I am from Dora,” said Dora native Teri Emery.

Like most other Dora natives, Teri spends plenty of time rooting for the red and black.

These days, her fandom runs a little deeper.

“Damon has Down syndrome, so any time he’s included makes all of our hearts happy,” Teri said.

Teri’s 8-year old son Damon has become a more than a Falcons super fan.

These days, he’s part of the team.

“He just thinks the world of [the players], and they treat him just as equally as anybody else,” Teri said.

An honorary team captain, Damon even recently ran onto the court with the team.

“Watching the video back we have cried and cried,” Teri said. “Because it’s just amazing.”

When the Falcons leave the court, here’s one first bump they don’t miss: Damon’s.

“They don’t have to pay him any attention, but they do so they’re really good kids on and off the court and we couldn’t be happier about that,” Teri said.

Now, as the Falcons hope to make a run at a Class 1 state title, you can bet Damon will cheering the whole way.
