Drury University forward Hailey Diestelkamp and guard Daejah Bernard were named All-Americans by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Monday. Both earned All-American honors last season as well.
Diestelkamp, a senior from Owensville, Missouri, earns First Team All-American honors for the second year in a row. Diestelkamp was the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year this season in addition to being named the Midwest Region Player of the Year by the Conference Commissioners Association. She was the MVP of the GLVC Tournament and was a First Team all-conference selection as she averaged 21.6 points per game, 7.4 rebounds, shot .522 from the field, and 2.8 steals per game. Diestelkamp scored a program, and GLVC single-game record 53 points against Rockhurst on Feb. 29 and was selected as the NCAA-II Player of the Week twice during 2019-20. The WBCA First Team All-American list features just 10 players.
Daejah Bernard earned All-American honors as an honorable mention selection. Bernard was the GLVC Defensive Player of the Year for the third year in a row and was a Second Team All-GLVC selection. The senior from St. Joseph, Missouri, averaged 2.7 steals per game, ranked second in the GLVC in assists with 5.4 per game, and she led the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio. She is Drury’s all-time assists leader, ranks third all-time in steals, and 12th in career rebounds.
The Lady Panthers finished the season undefeated at 32-0, won the GLVC regular season title going 20-0 in league play, they won their fourth straight GLVC tournament championship, and they are the number one ranked team in NCAA-II. 2019-20 marked the second consecutive year Drury completed an undefeated regular season.
