Wheatland boys basketball returns three starters and eight lettermen from last year’s team that finished 6-19 overall. The Mules graduated their lone all-conference selection in Zeke Rusk from that team.
Junior Tyler Dampier and sophomore Davin Sawyer are the leading returning scorers. Dampier averaged 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last year. Sawyer averaged 10.6 pints, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Senior Brilee Fielder played in just five games last year, but in those five games he averaged 12.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Seniors Josh Gallaway and Austin Rife along with juniors Chandler Smith, Owen Kenig and Michel Piper also return.
Junior Bodee Fielder will be a newcomer to the varsity level. Sophomore Domanic Jarman will also be new to Wheatland after moving in from Osceola.
“We are young and have some athleticism but must be willing to buy-into a defensive mindset and share the basketball offensively,” head coach Brian Pearson said.
Wheatland opens the season on Nov. 20 at Northeast Vernon County.
