Republic Welcomes Ryan Cornelsen as Head Football Coach and Assistant Activities Director

Republic, Missouri–Republic School District would like to welcome Coach Ryan Cornelsen to our team! The Board of Education approved Cornelsen to serve as Head Football Coach and Assistant Activities Director for the 2021-22 school year. He will also teach PE courses at RHS.

Cornelsen brings with him 18 years of successful coaching and teaching experience, all of which include head coaching roles and six years as an athletic director. His track record of on-field success in his previous positions along with his experience in leading multiple athletic programs makes him an excellent fit for Republic.

Most recently, Coach Cornelsen served as the head football coach at Gardner Edgerton High School in Kansas. He also held this title at Hutchinson High School, Hays High School and LaCrosse High School (all in Kansas). In addition to his role as Head Football Coach, Cornelsen led the track and field programs at Hutchinson, Hays and Lacrosse high schools.

As a head football Coach Cornelsen’s overall record is 139-45. Along with that successful record he has accomplished the following accolades:\\

• State Runner-Up Class 6A (Hutchinson High School, 2014)
• 2018 SFL Coach of the Year
• 2018 810 Varsity KC Coach of the Year
• 2013 Kansas Shrine Bowl Head Football Coach
• 6 Football League Championships
• 6 Football District Championships
• 4 Football Regional Championships
• 4 Straight Track and Field State Championships (Hays High School)
• 1 Track and Field State Championship (Hutchinson High School)
• 2011 Midwest Track and Field Coach of the Year

Coach Cornelsen is on the RHS campus today, which provided an opportunity for members of the football team to be introduced to him a short time ago.

In addition to Coach Cornelsen joining our community, his wife, Jamie (also an educator) and three children will become Republic Tigers, as well. Please join us in welcoming Coach Cornelsen and his family to Republic!
