RELEASE – SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State head women’s basketball coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton announced Wednesday that Jennifer Ezeh (pronounced ay-zay) has transferred to the Lady Bears after spending her first two collegiate seasons at Duke.
“I’m so excited about Jennifer,” said Agugua-Hamilton of MSU’s newest roster addition. “She is a strong, athletic 6-foot-3 center with good hands and feet who can run, rebound and finish inside!”
A sought-after player in the class of 2019, Ezeh helped New Hope Academy (Md.) to the GEICO Nationals championship as a senior with a 45-34 victory over St. John’s, averaging 15.5 points and 10.1 rebounds on the season and earning all-tournament honors at the national meet. She added 30 blocked shots and five double-doubles on the year and earned NACA All-America honors.
Ezeh averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds as a junior, and 8.0 points and 10.2 boards her sophomore season, adding a McDonald’s All-America nomination to her prep resume. Originally from Nibo, Anambra State, Nigeria, she also competed on the Nigerian Youth National Team.
“Jennifer is a very selfless, high-character student-athlete who is pursuing a career in nursing,” added Coach Mox. “She was highly recruited out of high school and unfortunately had a rough start at Duke with her knee injuries. But there is no doubt in my mind that she will persevere and flourish under our tutelage. Blessed to have her in our Lady Bear Family.”
Ezeh was a top-100 national recruit according to several ranking services and did not play in her two seasons at Duke due to injury and the Blue Devils opting out of the 2020-21 season in December.
